Butcher's Arm Crushed by Meat Grinder

A butcher in Marin County had his arm crushed in a meat grinder this week.

Cal OSHA is investigating the incident, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 28-year-old Rohnert Park man was transferred to Stanford Medical Center for treatment.

He was hurt Monday evening at the Andronico's Market in San Anselmo, the paper reported. The store remained open.

Initial reports to the Ross Valley fire department said the man suffered an amputation, but Cal OSHA told the Chronicle that is was a compound fracture, which means a bone pierced the skin or there was an opening created by another laceration.
