Bay Area Congressman Believes Chattanooga Shooting To Be Act of Terrorism

The alleged Chattanooga shooter was found to be Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, and now a Bay Area congressman believes the shooting was an act of terrorism.

The 24-year-old shot and killed four Marines Thursday morning at the Naval reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Local Congressman Eric Swalwell sits on the House Intelligence Committee and is constantly briefed on Homeland Security.

"When you look at who was attacked and the blog postings that he had, it looks and feels like a terrorist attack," Swalwell said.

Swalwell said a terrorist group is using social media to urge followers to attack Americans in uniform, but officials are on alert.

"Over the Fourth of July weekend, FBI was able to thwart about a dozen attacks and now they have dozen individuals in custody," Swalwell said.

Investigators are now looking at Abdulazeez’s e-mails, phone calls and internet use.
