A preliminary 3.4 magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday morning in the foothills northeast of San Jose, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 10:02 a.m. and was centered about 15 miles northeast of San Jose's Alum Rock neighborhood, the USGS said.
