In a new twist on fund raising, a new public school in Redwood City is being asked to hit up notable locals for money in exchange for recognition.
Oracle CEO Larry Ellison, real estate developer Max Keech and video game publisher Electronic Arts will be offered an opportunity to buy the name of the education institution.
The Belmont-Redwood Shores school board hopes that one of the wealth Redwood City locals is harder up for name recognition than they are for cash.
The new school plans to open next year. No word on who might be considered a suitable Plan B for the honor.
