Ash Kalra says he took a $100,000 paycut to get a chance to serve the people.
He was sworn in with other city councilmembers today at City Hall.
Kalra worked as an attorney for the Santa Clara County Public Defender's Office for 11 years and says he's ready for new challenges.
Kalra represents District 2.
