Flax art supply in San Francisco's Mid-Market neighborhood is moving from its longtime home to be replaced by condominiums, according to the San Francisco Chronicle
The longtime location is the future home of a nine-story, 160-unit condo development, the newspaper reported. The art store is looking for a new home in the city, "downsized" due to real estate realities, the newspaper reported.
Flax sits on a 23,000-square foot parcel with a 17-spot parking lot -- an ideal property to be redeveloped, the newspaper noted, and one of almost a dozen projects of dozens of units each sprouting up along Market Street, replacing restaurants, a funeral home, and a gas station.
Flax's owners are philosophical: they say that they'll move on without bitterness or regret and welcome the change.
