Alum Rock Ave. in San Jose Reopens After Gas Leak

A low-pressure natural gas line in East San Jose was ruptured by a PG&E crew while performing routine maintenance Thursday, and was finally capped early Friday morning, 14 hours later, PG&E officials said.

Alum Rock Avenue, which was closed during the rupture, finally reopened Friday morning.

The leak was first reported Thursday 1:51 p.m. in the 2500 block of Alum Rock Avenue, near Interstate 680, and the San Jose Fire Department responded to the scene as PG&E crews worked to cap the line.
