Hayward police remained tight-lipped Saturday about leads that indicate a San Jose woman who went missing last weekend is dead.
Stacey Xanthe Aguilar, 22, was last seen at a party in Hayward around 1 a.m. Sunday, police said. The party was held in the area of Silva Avenue and Jackson Street, according to police.
Aguilar's family reported her missing Monday.
Hayward police believe Aguilar was the "victim of a homicide," spokesman Ryan Cantrell said Saturday. Investigators are searching for Aguilar's body, but Cantrell would not elaborate on why they believe the woman was killed.
"We don't have a body, which makes it even more complex," he said. "And we don't have anyone in custody."
The victim's stepfather said that the family is frustrated because Hayward police have instructed them not to search for Aguilar. However, someone has been using her credit cards, he said.
Aguilar's stepfather also told NBC Bay Area's sister station Telemundo 48 that she lived in San Jose and worked as a waitress in the area.

The woman also has a 7-year-old son, who went to live with her mother after she was deported to Mexico, according to Aguilar's stepfather.
A resident of the East Bay house where the party was held told NBC Bay Area that Aguilar attended the gathering. The woman did not want to be identified, and said she did not know Aguilar personally, but knew her boyfriend who brought her to the party.
The woman said the pair left the party together.
People with information about the case are asked to contact Hayward police at 510-293-7034.
