Sean Maloney has been on the Intel executive fast track, even being talked up as possibly being the company's next CEO. Those plans are on hold for now, however, as Maloney recuperates from a stroke.
Intel CEO Paul Otellini says he has visited Maloney, and that the Co-Manager of Intel's Architecture Group is in good spirits, and is looking forward to coming back to work. The company did not say just when Maloney had the stroke, but that he is resting comfortaby at home.
Maloney, who has held a string of jobs while at the Santa Clara chip giant, is expected to take "several" months of medical leave while he recovers. Intel says his prognosis is excellent, and that he will resume his work at the company when he comes back.
Maloney started with Intel in 1982.
