Man Shot, Killed on San Jose Sidewalk

Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Tuesday night in unincorporated Santa Clara County, a sheriff's sergeant said this morning.

Deputies responded to several reports of a shooting at about 10:50 p.m. near the intersection of Madeline Drive and Staples Avenue in the Alum  Rock neighborhood of San Jose, Santa Clara County sheriff's Sgt. Don  Morrissey said.

The victim, a man whose name has not been released, died of gunshot wounds, Morrissey said.

He lived on the street where he was shot and was in his 20s, according to neighbors. 

Lots of people called 911 after they heard what they count as five or six shots.

He did not have additional details on the shooting but said investigators were still at the scene shortly before 8 a.m. today.

One man said that a bullet from the shooting entered his home through a living room window.
