Police have arrested a 60-year-old man suspected of shooting another man during an alcohol-fueled argument in San Jose on Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
Gabriel Quihuiz, of San Jose, was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon for the shooting, which wounded a 47-year-old man, police spokesman Office Albert Morales.
The shooting was reported at 4:11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Crucero Drive, about a block west of U.S. Highway 101.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was transported to Regional Medical Center of San Jose with what was initially considered a life-threatening injury, but is now expected to survive, Morales said.
"It looks like they had been in some kind of argument," Morales said. "They'd been drinking and that's what led up to the shooting."
