The sex offender registry is supposed to warn folks of nearby predators. But it doesn't always work, especially when the offenders check into someone else's hotel room.
San Rafael police arrested 33-year old Indugo Asifa Williams on Monday after he allegedly raped a hotel guest, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Williams has a 2000 conviction for unlawful sex with a minor on his record, thus landing him on the sex offender registry, the newspaper reported.
After police discoverd him naked and unconscious in a room of the Villa Inn, Williams was arrested on Monday on suspicion of rape, assault to commit rape, sodomy by force, oral copulation by force, burglary and violating parole.
A woman reported being raped in the room, saying that she thinks she left the door to her room ajar and an attacker -- Williams -- forced his way in. She was taken to a local hospital with cuts and a possible broken eye socket.
