Two businesses in San Leandro were damaged early Monday morning in a 4-alarm fire in San Leandro, according to the Alameda County Fire Department.
Marina Supermarket and Thrifty Medical Supply were the buildings to have burned at Marina Boulevard and Doolittle Drive. The fire also caused the precautionary evacuation of a nearby apartment complex, according the fire department’s series of tweets. But firefighters were able to save a coffee shop, hair salon and a smoke shop.
Yazan Amer, co-owner of the medical supply storefront, said "We're praying to God that the building is at least salvageable," though he did say thankfully that he has fire insurance.
The fire went to four alarms around 3 a.m. and was under control about 4:20 a.m., the fire department said.
No one reported any injuries. The cause is under investigation.
