At least four people died in two separate East Bay crashes Thursday morning. One crash happened in Oakland, while the other occurred in Emeryville. Kris Sanchez reports.

Three family members from San Pablo died Thursday morning after the SUV they were riding in slammed into a big-rig parked on the shoulder of westbound Interstate 80 just before the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver, a male, and two female passengers in the back of the Ford Escape, died at the scene, according to the CHP. Another passenger, who is also a member of the family, is said to be "clinging to life."

The Ford Escape crashed into the big-rig around 1:20 a.m., according to the CHP.

The victims were identified as 19-year-old Eva Villareal, 22-year-old Sara Villareal and 24-year-old Eliab Villareal, according to the Alameda Coronor's Office.

Speed and wet conditions are believed to have played a role in the crash, the CHP reported.

Nearby, one person died and another suffered major injuries in a crash on Interstate 580 Thursday morning.
