Reports: Father of Shasta County Missing Baby Shot Dead in Siskiyou County

The search for the father of a missing 6-month-old baby in Shasta County may have come to an end Monday, after police fatally shot a suspected carjacker in Dunsmuir, Siskiyou County.

According to reports, the person killed in the shooting could be Matthew Graham, father of 6-month-old Ember Graham and a person of interest in her disappearance.

KCRA.com reported that according to deputies,  the suspect was identified by the carjacking victims as Graham. The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department have not identified the suspect as Graham. Authorities say Graham stole a semi-automatic gun from his mother Saturday after hearing that the search for his daughter, Ember, had turned up a possible lead.

A Shasta Lake husband and wife say they were carjacked at gunpoint Monday morning at their home. Police traced the car through its navigation system and chased it to Dunsmuir, where the suspect died after shots were fired. The Siskiyou Sheriff's Department declined to provide further details and released the following statement on their Facebook page:

"On 7/13/15 at approximately 7:45 am in Dunsmuir Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department deputies, California Highway Patrol Officers and Shasta County Sheriff’s Deputies were involved in a shooting while searching for a carjacking suspect that originated in Shasta County. The suspect is deceased. The shooting will be investigated jointly by the Siskiyou County District Attorney, Shasta County Special Investigations team, California Highway Patrol Special Investigations, Siskiyou County Sheriff Investigators and the California Department of Justice .Additional information will be released as it becomes available."
