Oprah, W-e-l-c-o-m-e to Twitter

Queen of talk sends first tweet about "King of Twitter"

It's official. Oprah Winfrey, the queen of talk, is on her way to becoming the queen of Twitter.

Her first "tweet" was live on her television talk show.

It should come as no suprise then that her first message sent from laptop referenced the "King of Twitter." Her audience cheered as Winfrey typed "ASHTON IS NEXT" Friday morning, her official debut on the social networking site Twitter.

As learned Twitterers know, Kutcher -- @aplusk -- has been in a very public race with CNN -- @cnnbrk --  to reach one million "followers." During a interview via Skype, Oprah announced that he had reached the milestone before the cable news giant.

It didn't take long for the likes of George Stephanopoulos, Ellen DeGeneres, Jimmy Fallon, and Shaquille O'Neal to send welcome messages to Oprah.  According to Twitter, Winfrey already has 75,000 followers, which are people who have requested to see her tweets.

The question will be, can she keep her tweets under 140 characters.
