Carjacking Suspect Dies in San Jose Police Shooting

The San Jose Police Department is investigating a fatal police shooting that occurred Wednesday night.

The incident happened in the area of Hedding Street and Park Avenue where officers say a carjacking suspect caused a "major traffic collision."

When officers arrived at the scene, the man began shooting at them. That's when police returned fire, striking the suspect at least once, the department said.

The suspect was transported to the hospital where he later died.

No officers or bystanders were shot and police say others involved in the collision received minor to moderate injuries.

No other details were immediately available.
