Police Seize 2,000 Pounds of Illegal Fireworks

A literal ton of fun won't go up in smoke thanks to the Oakland Police Department

It was all bust and no boom for two Oakland men on Tuesday night.

Gabriel Bueno, 65, and his son-- whose name has not been made public-- were arrested after police seized 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks from a home in the Fruitvale neighborhood of Oakland. Several guns were also found at the scene.

The items were discovered in an undercover operation, one of several performed by the police department in the weeks leading up the Fourth of July.

Officials said they believe the stash to be the largest amount of fireworks ever seized by Oakland police, with a value of at least $75,000.
