Rally to Demand Justice in 2 Vallejo Police Shootings

A rally will be held Tuesday afternoon in Fairfield to demand justice for two men shot dead from behind by police, organizers said.

The rally, organized by The Justice Coalition of Vallejo and family members of Ronell Foster and Eric Reason, will be held at 1 p.m. outside the Solano County District Attorney's Office. The office is located at 675 Texas St., No. 4500 in Fairfield.

The man who was shot and killed in Vallejo was a father of six children. New details emerge about the shooting. Marianne Favro reports for NBC Bay Area on Sunday, November 10, 2019.

Coalition members are demanding an independent investigation into the shooting of Reason, who an off-duty Richmond police officer allegedly shot in the back of the head. Reason, who apparently had a gun, was shot by Sgt. Virgil Thomas who police said feared for his life and the life of his wife who was with him.

Coalition members are also demanding that Solano County District Attorney Krishna Abrams prosecute Vallejo police Officer Ryan McMahon, who shot and killed Foster.

Two very different stories are surfacing about why an off-duty Richmond police officer shot and killed a Vallejo man. Jodi Hernandez reports.

According to the coalition, prosecutors have had eight months to decide whether to charge McMahon, who apparently shot Foster in the back.

Police said there was a "violent physical altercation" between the two.

Civil rights attorney John Burris and members of his firm will join the rally. Burris is representing several families who have had a member shot by police.
