San Francisco Facing Critical Water Situation, Could Cause Major Damage: Report

San Francisco is facing a critical water situation that could cause major damage to the city, according to an investigation by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The fire department reportedly has enough resources to fight three significant fires at the same time, but if any more were to start at the same time, say in the case of an earthquake, the city could be in a crisis. The Chronicle also said the city's emergency water supply system was key to fighting the recent Mission Bay fire.

The report said San Francisco's emergency water supply has large gaps and lacks crucial equipment.

Voters already approved hundreds of millions of dollars in bonds to build reservoirs, pumping stations, and better pipes.

But the city reportedly is not using the money to create that system.
