Fire officials said no one was injured Saturday afternoon in a two-alarm fire that destroyed a two-story San Jose home.
The fire was first reported at 4:38 p.m. at 3281 Sagewood Lane. As crews were responding, they saw a large column of smoke coming from the home, fire Capt. Peter Caponio said.
The fire had started in the garage and spread rapidly throughout the roughly 1,800 square foot structure, Caponio said. According to Zillow,
the home is worth about $930,000. The cause is under investigation. Nine people were displaced and all are receiving help with food, housing and supplies from the American Red Cross, Caponio said.
He said the fire also damaged the exterior of a neighbor's home.
The occupants of the neighboring home were not displaced, he said. They will be able to return once power is restored.
