San Jose Police Arrest Two Men Connected to May Road Rage Killing

San Jose police arrested two men in connection with the killing of a man, who was shot to death in a road rage incident in May.

Police have identified the suspects as 17-year-old Fidadelfo Ortiz and 23-year-old Daniel Reyes. Both suspects are San Jose residents and have been charged with murder, officials said.

Police arrested Reyes on May 19 in Tracy, and Ortiz was arrested in Oakdale on May 23.

Phouc Lam, 38, was shot multiple times on the morning of May 6 shortly before 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Senter and Tully roads. The shooting, which was San Jose's 15th homicide of 2014, happened a few blocks from his home.

Police said there was a near collision between a car Lam was driving and a vehicle the suspects were in. Lam got out of the car to speak to the other driver and that is when the passenger in the suspect vehicle fatally shot him, police said.

The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office will prosecute Ortiz as an adult, police said.

Police do not believe the suspects and the victim knew each other prior to the incident.

A San Jose police officer is helping Lam's family by creating a web page to collect donations, and they have raised more than $107,000 as of Monday night.
