SFPD Cracks Down on Yet Another Street Party

An annual street fair alternately known as the Dore Alley or Up Your Alley festival was told to cut back on the lewd behavior or the SFPD wouldn't support future permits.

The annual party, which is a smaller and some say sluttier cousin of the Folsom Street Fair, attracts thousands and public nudity and more is pretty typical.

Complaints from individuals that the SFPD wasn't doing enough to stem sex acts sparked the rebuke. The police also cited evidence in the form of pictures on a local photographer's Web site.

Police and event organizers haven't been to keen on local events with an anything-goes, let-it-all-hang-out attitude. Bay to Breakers sponsors also reminded participants (with a wink and a nod) that nudity wasn't allowed.

In San Francisco, nudity is perfectly legal, as long as it's not considered "lewd."
