A heavily traveled route between Petaluma and state Highway 37 was closed for almost five hours after a suspected drunken driver crashed into a power pole Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred on Lakeville Road near Old Lakeville Road No. 3 at about 7:40 p.m.
The vehicle's driver, who was unlicensed and had possibly been drinking, and a passenger were injured in the crash, which brought down the power pole, the CHP said.
PG&E responded to the scene to make repairs, during which the roadway was closed.
According to the CHP, the roadway reopened at 12:51 a.m. but one lane was closed later in the morning to allow for additional repairs.
PG&E spokeswoman Brandi Ehlers said that crews returned to the scene this morning to replace the pole and that the work was completed by 5:45 a.m.
