7/16: Boz Scaggs, a Green Show, and a Dinner Date

Lots of rock on tonight's list of events

MINTY ROCK: This is far from your average stuffy museum exhibit. From July 16 to July 19, the Old Mint Building in San Francisco will host "Backstage Pass: A Sweeping History of Rock n' Roll." The exhibit will showcase pieces from the world's largest collection of live concert recordings and music memorabilia. Tickets are $10 and doors will be open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

HERE'S THE LOWDOWN: Listen to Boz Scaggs and Michael McDonald tonight at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. The show starts at 7:30, and tickets are $99, $89.50, $69.50, or $59.50.

GREEN CHIC: One person's trash is another person's . . . couture ballgown? See for yourself at "Green Dimensions: Bay Area Artists Celebrate Reclaimed Materials" at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. The reception goes from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

DELICIOUS: Got a date who likes to cook? Take them to Sur La Table in San Francisco, where the two of you will learn how to prepare an elegant meal to eat under the stars. The menu includes tomato-rubbed grilled flatbread topped with manchego cheese; grilled peach, prosciutto, and arugula salad; grilled rosemary dijon lamb chops; haricot verts and roasted potato salad; and individual blackberry cobblers with a cinnamon biscuit and honey ice cream. Tickets are $160.

GIANTS COUNTY FAIR: The Giants bring food and carnival rides to AT&T Park until July 19. The fair opens at 12 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. and takes place at McCovey Cove in Lot A. General admission is $5 and kids are free.

DANCE WITH THE FISHES: On Thursday nights, the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco hosts an evening of music, food, and cocktails. Drop by between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to mingle while you chill with aquarium creatures. Tickets are $10, or $8 for Academy members.
