Woman Killed on Highway 85 Identified

The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office has identified  19-year-old Sophie Belknap as the San Jose resident killed in a three-vehicle  crash on state Highway 85 in Saratoga Sunday morning.

Earlier on Sunday the California Highway Patrol identified  66-year-old Nassima Obaidi and 52-year-old Harbans Chandi, both San Jose  residents, as the drivers of two other cars involved in the crash that killed  Belknap.

Obaidi suffered major injuries and was taken to Valley Medical  Center after her car collided with Belknap's black Toyota Camry that was  blocking the No. 2 northbound lane.

Belknap was traveling in the No. 3 lane around 5:15 a.m. when the  car went into the right shoulder of the highway where it hit a brick wall.  The car bounced back into traffic and came to a rest facing south in the No.  2 lane.

Chandi, who had been traveling behind Obaidi in the No. 2 lane,  attempted to avoid the collision by changing to the No. 1 lane but the right  side of his vehicle ended up colliding with the left front of the black  Camry. He was not injured in the collision.
