A man accused of stabbing his estranged wife then pushing her out of a moving truck in the East Bay is behind bars.
Police say 46-year-old Elnora Caldwell was riding with 47-year-old Robert Woods on Highway 24 near the Caldecott Tunnel when they had a fight in the vehicle. Police say Woods stabbed Caldwell then pulled off the freeway on Fish Ranch Road and pushed her out onto the roadway.
Other drivers stopped to help. One driver followed Woods and wrote down his license plate number.
Caldwell was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek. She died at the hospital.
Caldwell served Woods with divorce papers a few weeks ago.
