Woman's Body Found Burned in Saratoga

The driver may have been speeding before the crash

When firefighters responded to a brush fire in Saratoga Hills Tuesday morning, they arrived at the scene to find a woman's body outside of a car, officials said.

California Highway Patrol Officer DJ Serabia said investigators believe that the driver may have been speeding before the deadly crash near Heather Heights in Saratoga.

CAL FIRE was called to put out a fire fire about 12:20 a.m. and found the Volkswagen Beetle - and the body - about 125 feet down an embankment.

The body was badly burned in the flames, but investigators believe that it is a woman.

The initial investigation indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the roadway, crashing in the embankment, possibly sparking the fire, Sarabia said.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
