The Gay Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is calling for the removal of CNN commentator Roland Martin following an ill-advised Twitter response to a David Beckham H&M commercial.
The commercial, which aired during the Super Bowl last night, shows the soccer star nearly-nude, and it prompted Martin to write:
"If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham's H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!"
GLAAD quickly responded, reprimanding Martin: "@rolandsmartin Advocates of gay bashing have no place at @CNN #SuperBowl #LGBT"
Rather than let it be, Martin fired back at GLAAD, calling them "clueless."
@glaad @CNN well you're clearly out of touch and clueless with what I tweeted," wrote Martin. "Way to assume, but you're way off base."
The comments sparked a huge online outcry, which Martin claiming he was making fun of soccer fans and not gay people.
