Supreme Court Strikes Abortion Clinic Buffer Zone

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that a Massachusetts law requiring protesters to stay at least 35 feet from the entrances to abortion clinics violates the First Amendment rights of protesters. The court in 2000 had upheld floating “bubble zones” in which protesters had to stay at least 8 feet away from people entering abortion clinics. Thursday's decision does not affect the validity of floating “bubble zone” restrictions.
