A new Gallup poll suggests that an estimated 123,000 same-sex marriages have taken place across the United States since the Supreme Court legalized the unions, NBC News reported.
The results, released Wednesday are based on interviews conducted in 2015 and 2016.
Gallup said the number of gay and lesbian couples who are married has jumped from 38 to 49 percent during the last year. It estimates there are now about 491,000 same-sex marriages in the U.S., up from 68,00 a year ago.
At the time of the court ruling, same-sex marriages were taking place in 37 state and remained banned in 13 states.
