Dave Dunford, Stanford Grad and 2-Time Olympic Swimmer for Kenya, to Become US Citizen

One of around 1,800 people to become U.S. citizens on Wednesday in Oakland will be a two-time Olympic swimmer, according to the department of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Dave Dunford, who represented Kenya in the Olympics, will become a citizen Wednesday afternoon at the Paramount Theater in Oakland.

Dunford is just the second swimmer to represent Kenya in the Olympics, following his brother Jason. Dave competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and in the 2012 games in London.

After winning in the 2006 African Swimming Championships and receiving the Most Promising Sportsman in Kenya award, Dave came to the U.S. and studied at Stanford University.

He lives in San Francisco.
