49ers to Eliminate Paper Tickets Beginning Next Season

The San Francisco 49ers will stop printing paper tickets starting next season.

In 2015, the only ways to get into Levi's Stadium will be via mobile devices that show tickets on an app or e-tickets printed out beforehand, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Team officials say the move is part of a "long-term strategy to move to a mobile and digital ticketing experience," according to the newspaper.

Along with their new $1.3 billion stadium, the 49ers also unveiled a ticketing app this year.

Almost two-thirds of current season ticket holders already use the team's "Levi's Stadium app," the newspaper reported.

Only 13 percent of fans still use the "commemorative ticket" that used to be part of every gameday experience, according to the newspaper.
