A full list of candidates for the 49ers head-coaching and general manager searches is emerging, according to league sources.

The 49ers have requested permission to interview New England offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for their head-coaching vacancy, according to multiple reports.

McDaniels is believed to be at the top of the 49ers' wish list to fill the vacancy that was created with the firing of head coach Chip Kelly after the 49ers finished this season with a 2-14 record.

But the 49ers will look to bring in other candidates for the job, including Seattle offensive line coach and former Raiders head coach Tom Cable, Buffalo interim head coach Anthony Lynn, Jacksonville interim coach Doug Marrone and Miami defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

The 49ers on Friday informed Trent Baalke he had been fired as 49ers general manager. The top candidates to emerge in that search are New England director of player personnel Nick Caserio, Kansas City director of player personnel Chris Ballard, ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, Minnesota assistant general manager George Paton, and Seattle co-player personnel directors Trent Kirchner and Scott Fitterer.

CEO Jed York and Paraag Marathe, the 49ers' chief strategy officer and executive vice president of football operations, are leading the search to fill both positions. McDaniels, Caserio and Ballard can interview for jobs this week because their teams have a first-round bye in the playoffs.

The 49ers appear to be looking for a coach-general manger combination.

McDaniels, 40, served as Denver Broncos head coach in 2009 and was fired after 12 games in 2010 after his teams compiled an 11-17 record. He returned to the Patriots in 2012 and has served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on Bill Belichick's staff the past five seasons.

Cable, 52, was 17-27 from 2008 to '10 in a tenure with the Raiders that was marked by controversy, including an incident in which he allegedly broke the jaw of an entry-level assistant during an altercation. Cable also serves as assistant head coach with the Seahawks.

Lynn, 48, interviewed with the 49ers for the position in the past. He took over as Buffalo offensive coordinator early in the season after Greg Roman was fired. Then, he became the interim head coach after Rex Ryan's firing last week.

Marrone, 52, reportedly interviewed for the 49ers head-coaching job in 2015. Marrone served two seasons as head coach of the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and '14 before opting out of his contract. The Bills went 15-17 in Marrone's two seasons.

Joseph, 44, is in his first season as defensive coordinator of the playoff-bound Dolphins under head coach Adam Gase. He was an assistant secondary coach with the 49ers from 2005 to '10.
