After 15 seasons, former Giants and As pitcher Barry Zito has announced his retirement from baseball and his intention to work on songwriting in Nashville.
"I don't think I want to be an artist," Zito told The Tennesseean. "My goal is not to play in front of 20,000 people in a stadium. My goal is to be at home with my family and to collaborate with great writers and make a living as a songwriter."
He wrote Monday on The Players' Tribune that he is excited to be a "rookie" in this new field and is ready for constructive criticism.
"If one day you ever happen to hear a song of mine, I hope you’ll be honest about what you think," he said. "I have been building a skill set of handling adversity for years, so fire away!"
