Crawford, Posey Widen Leads in Second Round of 2018 All-Star Voting

Brandon Crawford's case to start the 2018 All-Star Game got a lot stronger with the second round of All-Star tabulation released on Monday.

After last week's voting, Crawford led Atlanta's Dansby Swanson by 240,839 votes at shortstop. Now, Crawford leads Swanson by 551,631 votes (1,120,031 to 568,400).

As for Posey, he now leads Cubs catcher Willson Contreras by 90,142 after opening the voting with a 21,904 vote lead.

Second baseman Joe Panik passed Mets' Asdrubal Cabrera for fourth in voting, but still remains a long way behind Atlanta's Ozzie Albies. First baseman Brandon Belt remains in third place behind Freddie Freeman and Anthony Rizzo. Evan Longoria entered the Top 5 at third base, but he will have surgery on Tuesday to repair a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand and is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks.

Voting ends on July 5. The 2018 MLB All-Star Game will take place in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, July 17.
