Sean Manaea is back.
The left-hander is making his 2019 debut, less than one year after undergoing shoulder surgery. Manaea, 27, went 3-1 with a 3.21 ERA in five rehab starts for Triple-A Las Vegas.
Manaea is 31-28 with a 3.94 ERA over his three-year MLB career with the A's. He had a career-low 3.59 ERA last season and pitched a career-high 160 2/3 innings.
Catcher Josh Phegley will be in the squat Sunday as Manaea's battery mate against the Yankees. Phegley, 31, is batting .252 with a career-best 10 home runs this season.
