Get to Know Three Prospects Giants Landed From Twins in Sam Dyson Trade

Among the Giants many moves Wednesday before the 1 p.m. PT MLB trade deadline was the departure of reliever Sam Dyson, who the team dealt to the Twins.

Sources told NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic the Giants traded Dyson to Minnesota for three prospects: Outfielder Jaylin Davis and pitchers Prelander Berroa and Kai-Wei Teng.

Dyson, 31, has been a shut-down arm out of the bullpen for the Giants this season. The right-hander is 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA, but acquiring three prospects for the veteran is a solid return.

A source familiar with the Twins organization provided scouting reports to NBC Sports Bay Area on the three prospects.

Jaylin Davis, OF, 25

Scouting report: Big power, especially to opposite-field gap. Hits the ball really hard, has been on fire since going up to Triple-A. Swing-and-miss risk. Average right fielder and can handle center in a pinch. Solid throwing arm.

Davis is a former 24th-round pick by the Twins out of Appalachian State. He has huge power potential and has been on fire since being promoted to Triple-A Rochester.

The right-handed power bat was hitting .331 with 15 homers and a 1.112 OPS in 41 Triple-A games when the Giants acquired him.

Prelander Berroa, RHP, 19

Scouting report: Undersized righty out of the DR. Big arm, working on his command. 92-98, average 94. Slider and changeup still in development.

Berroa is only 5-foot-11 and 170 but has a live arm. Through seven starts in Advanced Rookie League, Berroa is 2-1 with a 4.55 ERA and has 37 strikeouts through 31 2/3 innings pitched.

FanGraphs lists Berroa as the Giants' new No. 19 prospect.

Kai-Wei Teng, RHP, 20

Scouting report: Signed for 500K out of Taiwan. Four-pitch mix. 90-95, average 93. Curveball is his best secondary pitch. Hard downer at 77-83.

Teng, 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds is enjoying a solid season in Single-A. He has gone 4-0  with a 1.60 ERA and 1.07 WHIP.
