Sharks 2016-17 Preview: Keep an Eye on Joonas Donskoi

The Sharks enjoyed their most successful season in franchise history last year. The experts at RotoWorld preview how it will all play out for San Jose in 2016-17.

San Jose Sharks

2015-16: 46-30-6, lost to Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup Final (4-2)

Noteworthy Gains: Mikkel Boedker, David Schlemko

Noteworthy Losses: James Reimer, Roman Polak

Biggest Strength: The Sharks can attack you in a number of different ways and with multiple weapons. They've got great depth up front with Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, Patrick Marleau, Tomas Hertl and Mikkel Boedker and they have one of the most dynamic offensive defensemen in the league in Brent Burns.

Biggest Weakness: Finding a weakness on the roster is hard. The Sharks have a good group of forwards, a solid six-man unit on defense and a proven number one goaltender in Martin Jones. San Jose was able to make it all the way to the Stanley Cup Final last year, but they still couldn't take home the cup. With Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski and Burns are all over 30, you have to wonder how many more cracks at the Stanley Cup they'll get.

Player to Watch: Seeing how Mikkel Boedker uses his blazing speed with his new team will be interesting, but a player I'm keeping an eye on is Joonas Donskoi. The 24-year-old scored 11 goals and 36 points in 76 games during his rookie season and added six goals and 12 points in the playoffs. With a year under his belt and a little more trust from the coaching staff, Donskoi could wind up with 45 to 50 points this season.
