Instant Replay: Warriors fight off Hawks, win streak goes to 12 in a row

    BOX SCORE

OAKLAND – The Warriors got quite the scare Monday night but survived to extend their consecutive win streak to 12 games.

Digging down and finding resolve in the fourth quarter, they massaged their way to a 105-100 victory over the plucky Atlanta Hawks before a sellout crowd (19,596) at Oracle Arena.

Draymond Green returned to the lineup after a one-game absence and made two massive defensive plays in the final minute, blocking shots by Dennis Schroder and Kent Bazemore to preserve the lead.

Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant scored 25 points apiece to lead Warriors scorers, while Klay Thompson tossed in 20 points and Andre Iguodala added 12.

Durant also led the team in rebounding, grabbing 14.

The Warriors (16-2) committed 14 turnovers, leading to 19 Atlanta points, through the first three quarters but committed only one in the fourth.

Point guard Dennis Schroder scored 24 points to lead the Hawks (10-8), who were playing the second night of a back-to-back set.

    STANDOUT PERFORMER

Coming off the bench as usual, Iguodala made plays at both ends that swung the game toward the Warriors.

Iguodala’s line: 12 points (5-of-9 shooting, including 2-of-6 beyond the arc), five assists and five rebounds. He played 28 minutes and finished a team-best plus-18 for the game.

    TURNING POINT

Though there were seven lead changes, neither team ever led by double digits. Not until Ian Clark, also returning after a one-game absence, drained a 3-pointer at the third-quarter buzzer, did there seem to be a notable momentum swing.

Clark’s triple ignited an 11-0 run during which the Warriors found more energy than they had at any time previously.

Taking an 88-81 lead with 9:37 remaining, the Warriors remained ahead until the final buzzer.

    INJURY UPDATE

Warriors: F Draymond Green (L ankle contusion) and G Ian Clark (throat/neck soreness) were listed as questionable and upgraded to active prior to tipoff. C Damian Jones and F/C James Michael McAdoo were healthy inactives.

Hawks: F Mike Scott (L knee soreness) and C Tiago Splitter (R calf strain) were listed as out.

    WHAT’S NEXT

The Warriors play the third game of their five-game homestand Thursday night, when they face the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena.
