Kerr Believes Durant Can Be Even Better: ‘The Beauty of KD Is…'

Kevin Durant has led the league in scoring four times.

He won the MVP award for the 2013-14 season.

He was named NBA Finals MVP last year.

But are we currently looking at peak Kevin Durant?

"I think he can even get better. I really do," Steve Kerr told 95.7 The Game's Damon Bruce on Wednesday. "And I thought that was one of the reasons he came here, to Golden State, was to be able to flourish in a system with other players so that they could make him better and he could make them better, but he could become more well rounded.

"And then the beauty of KD is that like you saw in the Finals last year -- throughout the playoffs really and what you're seeing now -- when we need him, when we just say, 'Hey KD, we really need you to step up and take over,' it's just a flip of the switch ... just dominating games.

"He's as good as they come, and right now he's in top form for sure."

Through Durant's first 20 games this season, he averaged 24.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 3.6 turnovers, while shooting over 52 percent from the field and over 40 percent from deep.

Over the last three games (without Steph Curry in uniform), he averaged 33 points, 10 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 3.3 blocks and 3.0 turnovers, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from distance.

"As soon as Steph comes back, and Steph's doing his thing, KD will be the happiest guy in the gym," Kerr said. "He doesn't need numbers, he doesn't need the personal glory. He just really appreciates being in this great environment with his teammates, and in the Bay Area.

"He's so good that he could dominate the group, but he really appreciates just being a part of it."

For the record -- Kerr conducted his interview with Bruce while taking a bath...
