Ex-Warriors Guard Monta Ellis' Absurd Declaration Nine Years Ago Today

Are you ready to enjoy a good laugh?

Good, because we're here to help.

Today is March 27, which is a special day in Warriors history. Why? Because exactly nine years ago, Monta Ellis made the truly absurd declaration that he's the second-best player in the NBA.

"I'm going to say LeBron James," Ellis said in ranking LeBron No. 3 in the league. "He can do it all, pass, score, defend, block shots. No. 2, I would have to say, me. I can do a whole lot of things: defend, score, make passes, do whatever I need to do.

"No. 1, I'd say Kobe Bryant. There isn't one player who can stop Kobe one-on-one. He has a lot of stuff. He can defend. And of course, he won four championships."

Let us know when you stop laughing ...

... done yet?

Just to be clear, Monta said this despite the fact that LeBron won his first NBA MVP in 2009 and claimed the trophy again in 2010.

Additionally, Monta never was an All-Star and never was an All-NBA player.

Why are we even listing reasons for why his claim was all-time ridiculous?
