Al Davis Somehow Manages to Make Dan Snyder Look Like Norman Einstein

This sounds about right: the Raiders, in releasing DeAngelo Hall earlier this week, not only burned through $8 million for eight games of substandard cornerback play, but also managed to make the Redskins seem like a model franchise when it comes to making player personnel decisions.

Two years ago, Bill Belichick duped Oakland into sending Randy Moss to New England for a fourth-round pick, and now Washington not only signed Hall to a relatively affordable $500,000, one-year deal, but they somehow got a 2008 Al Davis second-round pick out of it.

It's complicated, I know, but's Adam Schefter explains:

One fact further illustrates just how bad and embarrassing Oakland's trade for cornerback DeAngelo Hall this offseason actually was.

In addition to a fifth-round pick, the Raiders also traded a second-round pick, the 34th overall selection, to Atlanta for Hall. Well, on draft day, the Falcons wound up trading the 34th and 48th overall pick to Washington for the 21st overall pick.

Now, some six months later, the Redskins wound up with Hall and the Raiders second-round pick, which they used on Michigan State wide receiver Devin Thomas. And it cost Oakland $8 million!

To summarize: the Raiders are a joke, the owner is senile and paranoid, and just about everybody on the roster wants out of Oakland. Jim HarbaughHAS to want this gig.
