Giants-Cubs Finale Postponed by Rain

The Giants series finale against the Cubs will have to wait until later in the year, as officials at Wrigley Field decided to postpone the finale three hours before the game was set to begin.

Saturday night's game -- in the gorgeous setting of 43 degrees, wind, and rain -- was shortened due to weather, though that worked in the Giants favor, as Ryan Vogelsong pitched a six-inning shutout and led the Giants to a 3-0 win.

The Cubs made the announcement for Sunday's game before the gates even opened, although no make-up date has been scheduled yet. However, the Giants do return to Wrigley Field for a three-game series from June 28-30.

Per, the game will likely be made up either June 28 or June 29, as the Cubs already have a make-up game with the Rockies on June 27.

Sunday's rainout also means Tim Lincecum's start will be bumped back to Monday, pitching against the Rockies as the Giants hit their second stop on the current road trip by visiting Denver for a two-game set.

For Giants fans, that's probably a good thing -- taking a (literal) wash on the series finale at Wrigley in exchange for the Giants getting their ace in a shortened series against the top division rival is just the sort of good luck that's propelled this team to success over the past two years.
