On Monday morning, the Warriors held an introductory press conference for Jacob Evans.
Some opening remarks were followed by a Q&A with members of the media.
Mark Medina of the Bay Area News Group asked Evans how he formulated his basketball IQ.
"Just growing up, I tried to learn as much as I can about the game. I feel like if you're the smartest person on the court, you're the most dangerous person," Evans said. "And then it got to a point where everyone's athletic.
"You gotta use your brain more than your physical abilities. So I just tried to learn the game -- whether it's from coaches at a camp or other guys in the NBA that I've watched play growing up. Also, watching a lot of film."
Yeah, it's safe to assume that he is going to enjoy being around Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala (and vice versa).
One other topic thrown Evans' way -- old tweets:
Westbrook ain't shaking no hands with the Warriors that's why I like him— ️Jacob Evans III (@JacobEvans_1) May 31, 2016
On May 30, 2016, the Thunder lost Game 7 of the West Finals to the Warriors.
Westbrook went 7-for-21 from the field.
There was also this classic from July 4, 2016:
Damn KD to the Warriors. 😪🙄— ️Jacob Evans III (@JacobEvans_1) July 4, 2016
But don't worry Warriors fans -- Evans is a quick learner:
Jacob Evans' immediate reaction to the Warriors drafting him: "I kept asking, 'Really? Really? Really?' I couldn't believe it. Being able to come to one of the greatest organizations ever; probably the greatest team ever in NBA history."— Drew Shiller (@DrewShiller) June 25, 2018
