San Francisco 49ers legend Jerry Rice has had a long time to bask in his three Super Bowl championships and thirteen Pro Bowl appearances.
This weekend, he finally gets to bask in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Rice is in Canton, Ohio for the Pro Football Hall of Fame weekend festivities. Rice will be presented into the Hall by Eddie DeBartolo Jr. in an induction ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. PDT Saturday and broadcast live on ESPN and the NFL Network.
Looks like Jerry's throwing himself a pretty swank party Friday night. His publicist Sasha Taylor has been twitpic-ing Rice's Canton adventures non-stop, with some choice shots of Jerry at SFO, Jerry at a bar with Eddie D, and the decor at Jerry's private party.
In a really neat homage, Matt Maiocco of Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area compiles a couple of Jerry's greatest, never-before-seen circus catches from 49ers practices of the 1990s.
"I never looked at making the Hall of Fame. I never wanted the status of being a celebrity," Rice said in a Hall of Fame interview available online at Comcast Sportsnet. "I played football because I loved it. I enjoyed going out there and enteratining so many people and putting on that 49er uniform."
Rice's 2010 Hall of Fame class also includes Emmitt Smith, Russ Grimm, John Randle, Floyd Little, Dick LeBeau, and one-time 49ers linebacker Rickey Jackson.
