SAN FRANCISCO — On a day when much of the baseball world was talking about this being the most homer-happy season in MLB history, the Giants went back to their roots.
The first two runs came on sacrifice flies and a fourth run was scored on a walk, wild pitch, and two-out single. Throw in a solo homer and a sharp performance from Matt Moore, and the Giants got a 4-0 win over the Rockies. They swept this brief two-game series and clinched their first three-game winning streak since a sweep of the Pirates June 30-July 2.
Here’s what else you need to know from the final weekday day game at AT&T Park …
Masterful Matt Moore: Moore was at his best, allowing six hits and striking out six in six shutout innings. He carried the lead into the seventh before running into some brief trouble. The scoreless outing was Moore’s first this season as a starter.
Sac flies lead San Francisco: The Giants jumped ahead on sac flies by Denard Span and Buster Posey, both of which scored Joe Panik. They lead the National League with 50 sacrifice flies, so at least there’s some aspect of situational hitting where they’re excelling.
Crawford goes deep: Brandon Crawford hit a solo blast that was about three feet away from his homer that was taken off the board a few weeks ago. The homer was Crawford’s 14th. There’s a very good chance that the Brandons finish 1-2 on the team in homers.
LeMahieu joins Gwynn: With a first-inning single, DJ LeMahieu picked up his 30th hit of the season against the Giants. So ... it’s not just Nolan Arenado doing the destruction. LeMahieu became the first player to get 30 hits in a season series against the Giants since Tony Gwynn in 1989. The record is held by Pete Rose; he had 32 hits in 18 games against the Giants in 1976.

Big outing for Okert: Bruce Bochy turned to Steven Okert against pinch-hitter Pat Valaika. With two on, Okert struck Valaika out on a good fastball down and away. Right-handed hitters have just two hits in their last 20 at-bats against Okert. He then got Charlie Blackmon to ground out. Okert is making some strides late in the year.
