With the 28th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft on Thursday, the Warriors selected guard Jordan Poole out of the University of Michigan.
Poole, a two-year player at Michigan under new Cavaliers head coach John Beilein, averaged 12.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Wolverines last season. Measuring 6-foot-5.5 with an average 6-foot-6.75 wingspan, Poole -- who turned 20 years old Wednesday -- has the size to play both guard positions.
With Klay Thompson expected to miss a significant portion of next season recovering from a torn ACL and Shaun Livingston potentially considering retirement, the Warriors needed to add some young depth to their backcourt, and the selection of Poole accomplishes that.
