Jacob Evans' sophomore NBA season took a tough turn Monday night. The Warriors' top pick from the 2018 NBA Draft left Golden State's 134-123 win over the Pelicans early with a left adductor strain and didn't return.
He won't return for quite some time now.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Tuesday night on KNBR that Evans "looks like he might be out for a little bit."

Evans was examined by the Warriors' training staff Tuesday. Kerr didn't give specifics on Evans' injury, but the coach did go into detail on how the guard's loss could affect Golden State.

"It's a shame because Jacob has really had a good start to the season," Kerr said. "He had a great camp, and he's proven to us that he's got the size and defensive acumen to survive on the floor as well.
"And he's worked so hard on his offense. He made four 3s on opening night, and he's a good, solid player."
Evans scored a career-high 14 points in the Warriors' opening-night loss to the Clippers. Kerr is looking for Evans to be more of a playmaker this season after a slow rookie year, and the guard flashed vast improvements through the first three games.

While the additions of center Willie Cauley-Stein and sharpshooter Alec Burks on Wednesday night against the Suns should boost the Warriors, Kerr knows it will hurt to be without Evans.
"We're gonna miss Jacob for however long he's out here in the coming weeks," Kerr said.
