    HICK IS IN: Bonnie "Prince" Billy, also known as singer/songwriter Will Oldham, will play The Fillmore, 1805 Geary Ave., in San Francisco at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door for $22.50.

    LOCAL ROCK: San Francisco's own Microfiche will play the Elbo Room, 647 Valencia St., in San Francisco at 9 p.m. The the band is known for its indie-electro sound. Tickets are only $5 at the door.   

    ECONOMY 101: Economist Joel Magnuson will discuss his latest book "Mindful Economics: How the US Economy Works, Why It Matters, and How It could Be Different" at Books Inc. in the Castro, 2275 Market St., in San Francisco at 7:30 p.m. He will attempt to explain the current worldwide economic crisis and options on how to stay afloat in a tough market.
